SPX Refrigeration & Food Machinery Engineering in 2024
As 2024 is over and the cold weather is well and truly upon us, the team of Refrigeration Engineers at SPX Refrigeration & Food Machinery Engineering have taken some time to reflect on the past year and look forward to this coming year of 2025.
Parties & Nominations
Last year, we were proud to be nominated for Service Provider of the Year at the Fishing News awards in Aberdeen. Whilst we didn’t win, it was an honour to be recognised for our contributions to the fishing industry, and we enjoyed a celebratory meal.
Additionally, we were invited to the launch party of the new trawler, Admiral Black, in Plymouth. We provided the Ice Machine, Fish Hold Refrigeration, and accommodation Air Conditioning for this vessel. James, one of our refrigeration engineers, and Paul, the Director of SPX, attended the afternoon launch and enjoyed the fish treats on offer. Paul and his wife, Jo, also attended the evening celebration, where they received a large photo of the trawler as a gift.
Factory Visits
Daikin, an air-conditioning supplier, invited Paul and others to their factory in Bruges. This visit provided us with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of their products and the manufacturing process. It helped us enhance our knowledge and expertise while also strengthening our professional relationship with Daikin. As a result, we are better equipped to deliver top-quality Air Conditioning Services for the Commercial, Industrial, and Marine sectors.
Achievements & Announcements
We have some wonderful news to celebrate! Paul successfully completed the Manchester Marathon, showcasing his dedication and perseverance. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that James and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby girl in the summer.
Plans for 2025
In 2025, we aim to strengthen our relationship with Parkol. With several new builds on the horizon, we will have the opportunity to install essential equipment, including Ice Machines, Fish Hold Cooling Solutions, and Air Conditioning Systems. Together, we can ensure these projects are a success.

At SPX Refrigeration & Food Machinery Engineering, we hold F-Gas Certification from RefCom Company (Certificate No. REF1011887) and are members of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and The Guild of Master Craftsmen, ensuring high standards of safety and quality. Additionally, we are the South West Agents for Henkelman Vacuum Packers and Ziegra Ice Machines, showcasing our expertise within the industry.
