Over 35 Years in the Refrigeration Business
Established in 1987 by Peter Kelly, SPX Refrigeration & Engineering Services started as a sole trading company offering installations, servicing, and repairs for the commercial, industrial, and marine refrigeration and air conditioning sectors. In January 1995, as our business began to grow, Paul Creed (now Director of SPX) joined as an apprentice, showing immense potential with his nomination as Apprentice of the Year by his college tutor.
Our journey from a sole trading entity to a limited company in 2010 is a testament to our steady growth and unwavering commitment to providing quality workmanship and exemplary service across Devon and Cornwall. This growth trajectory continued when Peter’s daughter and Paul took over in 2017, further solidifying our position in the industry.
About Our Expansion into Food Machinery Sales & Services
In 2022, we significantly expanded by acquiring a neighbouring company, Response Food-Process Engineering. This strategic acquisition allowed us to broaden our services to include the sales, maintenance and servicing of food machinery such as vacuum packers, mincers, sausage fillers, and spiral mixers. This evolution is where SPX Refrigeration & Food Machinery Engineering was born, highlighting our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our clients.
At the heart of SPX Refrigeration & Food Machinery Engineering is Paul, a respected figure in the industry. His dedication and expertise have been recognised with a nomination for Service Provider of the Year by Fishing News. He is blessed with four daughters, who unfortunately show no aptitude for engineering in any capacity, and a wife – Jo, who makes sure his bills are paid on time!
